In 1980 a laser positioning company was formed from the needs of interior contractors to properly locate and install metal track & ceiling grid. Midwest Laser was created as an arm of Reinke Interior Supply Co., becoming a Spectra Precision dealer handling all laser positioning for the Chicago area construction market. Midwest Laser quickly became the go-to company for leading construction technology and expanded our territory to include Indiana. For the next 21 years we made it our goal to create relationships through our solutions, service & support. In 2000 Trimble Navigation acquired Spectra Precision and our relationships in the Chicago area led to us becoming Trimble’s Illinois and NW Indiana Survey & Construction Dealer. We named this dealership Precision Midwest.

Precision Midwest of Illinois Ltd. is an eighteen-year-old company. It was a result of a merger of two Spectra Precision dealers who had over 25 years of experience in the industry. It is an S-Corporation owned by Richard Fisher, Todd Sleezer, Nicholas DiBitetto and Henry Reinke. The company was formed to lead the way as the premier dealer in GPS, Robotics and Construction Instruments, Sales and Service in the Midwest. With our experienced and energetic staff, we are positioning ourselves in the ever-changing high-tech market place. Precision Midwest was sold to Seilar in 2022.

In 2009 the Building Construction Division was formed with dedicated salespeople exclusively to building construction market. Five years in a row through 2013, we were the #1 Building Construction Dealer in North America. In 2013 Trimble established its Trimble Buildings division to serve the needs of the building construction industry through a new global dealer network under the trademark name of “BuildingPoint”. In July 2013, we opened the first BuildingPoint dealership in the world, BuildingPoint Midwest.

This allowed us to hit the ground running with a proven, qualified & dedicated team. BuildingPoint Midwest, serving Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan and Indiana is dedicated to improving productivity for the construction industry through advanced and intuitive technologies. Our portfolio of Trimble™ solutions streamlines communication and collaboration throughout the Design-Build-Operate (DBO) lifecycle to realize greater efficiency and profitability. Over the past five years, Trimble has acquired more than 35 companies in the construction industry to realize its vision for BuildingPoint. Through the adoption of our advanced software, hardware and service offerings, general contractors and construction managers, architects, structural & MEP professionals and building owners realize greater efficiency and profitability. We are the new global network of Trimble distribution partners specialized in supporting customers with the adoption of the Trimble Buildings’ portfolios, and BuildingPoint Midwest is the first one in the group. We employ highly trained and knowledgeable specialists who are ready to work with companies on Field Solutions, Software Solutions, Virtual Design and Construction Services, Cloud & Mobile Solutions to ensure increased productivity, profitability and streamline the DBO process.

In 2015 BuildingPoint Gulf Coast was created serving Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi with our offices in Lafayette, Louisiana.

At the start of 2018 we moved both Precision Midwest and BuildingPoint Midwest under one roof with the purchase of a 14,000 sft building which will stand as the corporate headquarters for BuildingPoint Midwest and Gulf Coast.
