Trimble ST30 Smart Target

Lose Line of Sight, Not Your Workflow

Busy jobsites make it difficult to maintain a clear line of sight all day. When a wall, lift, equipment or another obstruction gets between you and your robotic total station, GeoLock uses the ST30’s integrated GNSS to help the instrument locate the target and regain lock when line of sight is restored. GeoLock is included with the ST30 with no additional GNSS subscription required.

How GeoLock Works

The ST30 combines its integrated GNSS receiver with Trimble GeoLock technology to help your robotic total station determine where the target is located after line of sight is interrupted.

Instead of manually searching for the target, GeoLock helps the total station regain lock automatically. Combined with Trimble active tracking and Target ID, the ST30 helps keep the instrument on the correct target and your layout workflow moving.

What Does This Look Like in the Field?

Walls, columns, lifts, vehicles and equipment can interrupt line of sight throughout the day. With a traditional robotic workflow, losing lock can mean stopping what you’re doing and searching for your target again.

With GeoLock, the ST30 uses its GNSS position to help your robotic total station find it again, reducing the stop-and-search routine and helping you get back to layout faster.

Built For One Person Robotic Layout

When you’re laying out by yourself, walking back to the total station or spending time trying to regain lock interrupts your entire workflow.

GeoLock works alongside active tracking and Target ID to make that process more automatic, helping your robotic total station stay with the ST30 or quickly find it again after an obstruction gets in the way.

Why it matters

Construction sites don't always allow you to work the same way from one point to the next. By bringing optical and GNSS technology together in the ST30, crews have more flexibility to adapt their positioning workflow to the work and conditions around them.

Coming in 2027: Standalone GNSS

Beginning in 2027, Trimble plans to offer an optional annual subscription that unlocks the ST30’s standalone high-accuracy GNSS rover capabilities. This will give crews the flexibility to use the ST30 for supported GNSS positioning without requiring an optical measurement from a robotic total station.

  • Standalone GNSS

    High-accuracy GNSS positioning

  • Optical + GNSS

    Move between workflows

  • More jobsite flexibility

Use the positioning method for the work at hand
