Trimble ST30 Smart Target
A new standard for building construction layout has arrived. The Trimble ST30 smart target delivers a breakthrough in how data is captured on the job site. By combining automatic rod height, tilt compensation, and a high-accuracy 360° prism, the ST30 streamlines your process, avoiding rod height blunders, reducing total station setups, eliminating interruptions, and enabling crews to move faster with confidence.
Forget the rod and focus on the job
With robust Trimble Inertial Platform™ (TIP™) tilt compensation for optical and GNSS workflows, you can survey faster without leveling the rod. Measure accurately in tight, inaccessible spots with peak efficiency.
Correct rod height, always
Avoid costly rod height errors. Rod height is automatically synced and monitored in Trimble FieldLink field software, providing peace of mind. The fully adjustable rod enables the target to be set at any height.
Best-in-class optical tracking
Don’t waste time with lock issues. Advanced Trimble active tracking, target ID and Trimble GeoLock™ technology deliver highly accurate, efficient tracking, reducing downtime on busy job sites.
This is what smart looks like
With technology designed to boost accuracy, minimize errors and maximize efficiency, the ST30 revolutionizes your workflows, helping you work smarter and more productively on every job.
Connected workflow
Designed to work seamlessly within the Trimble ecosystem, the ST30 integrates with Trimble RTS series robotic total stations, Trimble tablets, Trimble FieldLink field software, Trimble Connect cloud software and Trimble FieldLink office software. The result is a more continuous, connected way to measure - helping you capture accurate data the first time and carry that confidence through every phase of the job.
FAQ
Yes. The ST30 supports active tracking with Trimble RTS series robotic total stations, Trimble SPS series instruments and select Trimble S Series total stations. Optical tilt-compensated measurements are supported with compatible Trimble S, SPS and RTS instruments equipped with DR+ EDM and BLR radio. Compatibility varies by instrument and workflow, so BuildingPoint can help determine whether your existing equipment supports the ST30.
The ST30 automatically measures the height of the compatible telescoping rod and synchronizes that information with supported Trimble field software. This eliminates the need to manually enter rod height for each measurement and helps prevent incorrect rod-height entries that can lead to inaccurate layout data and costly rework. The supported ST Rod adjusts from 1.55 m to 2.6 m, with a stated height measurement accuracy of ±0.6 mm RMS.
No. Trimble TIP™ tilt compensation allows crews to take accurate optical and GNSS measurements without carefully leveling the rod for every shot. This can make layout and data collection faster and make it easier to measure difficult or inaccessible points such as building corners, inverts, and overhead structures without relying on additional setups or complex offsets.
Yes. The ST30 combines optical and GNSS capabilities in one system, allowing users with the appropriate GNSS subscription and correction source to transition between robotic total station and survey-grade GNSS measurements without changing hardware. Both workflows can use tilt compensation, and measurements can remain within the same job file.
Not for GeoLock. Integrated GNSS and Trimble RTX corrections used to power GeoLock automated target tracking are included as standard with the ST30. Using the ST30 as a GNSS rover is optional and requires the appropriate GNSS subscription. If Trimble RTX is used as the primary correction source for standalone GNSS surveying, a separate RTX subscription is required; supported external network correction sources can also be used.
